At Kern Vascular Center, we understand that patients seeking vascular care may encounter a wide range of providers—interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and vascular medicine specialists—all of whom may present themselves as “vascular experts.” However, not all of these providers are trained in the full scope of vascular disease management. Only board-certified vascular surgeons are specifically trained to treat both arterial and venous diseases using the full spectrum of care—from noninvasive evaluations to minimally invasive endovascular procedures to complex open surgical reconstructions. This comprehensive training ensures patients receive the safest, most effective treatment options tailored to their condition.

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins often visible just under the skin, usually in the legs. They affect up to 35% of people in the U.S. and can cause aching, swelling, or heaviness in the legs. Genetics, prolonged standing, and pregnancy can increase your risk.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a weakened, bulging area in the main artery that runs through your abdomen. It can lead to life-threatening complications if it ruptures. AAA may develop silently and is more common in older adults, particularly those who smoke or have high blood pressure.

Peripheral artery disease occurs when narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs, usually due to plaque buildup (atherosclerosis). It can cause pain while walking, cold feet, and, in severe cases, tissue damage or gangrene.

Renal artery stenosis is the narrowing of arteries that supply blood to the kidneys. It can contribute to high blood pressure and impaired kidney function, often requiring evaluation in patients with sudden or resistant hypertension.
